Tanning Before & After Tips

Before your tan...

* Exfoliate and moisturise the night before, taking particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles and problem dry areas.

* Paint nails and toenails, especially if false.

* Wax/Shave at least 24 hours prior to treatment, to allow pores

time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.

* Your therapist may give you some wipes to remove any

deodarant, perfume as these products can effect the result of

  your tan.

* Always have a trial tan 4-6 weeks before any important ocassion

to ensure that the colour is absolutely perfect for you.

* If you are going to be tanning in your underwear, please ensure

this is old and dark or if you prefer we will offer you

  disposable underwear.

After your tan....

* Wear dark loose clothing for after your treatment, any tight

clothing or underwear may cause wear marks.

* Wear flip flops or loose fitting shoes.

* Do not shower or bathe for at least 8 hours.

* Try not to touch yourself during the development time, your

therapist will show you that your hands are clear of tan after

your treatment, any marks on your hands after is due to your

hands touchingthe developing tan. Be aware once this has

happened, nothing will remove if from your palms.

* After showering/bathing - pat dry only.

* Long exposure to water and exercise will fade your tan. Your

outer cells will start to soak up water, which dilutes the

  effect of the tan.

* Moisturise your tan to ensure that you have no dry areas and

  to help maintain it.

To maximize how long your tan will last gently exfoliate your body every 2-3 days as the tan starts to fade and use a gentle Body Moisturiser, as it will help to prolong the life of the tan.

A salon applied lotion tan will last 7-10 days on the skin. However, this does depend on the client’s skin type, home skin care routine and lifestyle.
